Anthony Bertelli

His research interests converge on the role of political institutions in shaping public policy outcomes and organizational structures. He has been particularly interested in the relationship between public administration and democracy, and his current book project Democracy Administered (Cambridge University Press, 2021) brings him back to these themes. With Larry Lynn, he wrote Madison’s Managers: Public Administration and the Constitution (Johns Hopkins University Press) and The Political Economy of Public Sector Governance (Cambridge University Press). His work has appeared in a variety of scholarly journals including the American Political Science Review, American Journal of Political Science, British Journal of Political Science, Journal of Politics, Journal of Theoretical Politics, Political Studies, Journal of Public Administration Research and Theory, Governance, Public Administration and Public Administration Review.
