“From Trends to Mechanisms: A Theory-Informed Framework for Mortality Forecasting”
SPEAKER: UgoFilippo Basellini (MPIDR).
ABSTRACT:
Recent slowdowns in life expectancy improvements have challenged the reliability of widely used methods to forecast mortality. This talk reviews the current state of the art and presents my ERC-funded research programme, which develops a theory-informed framework that shifts mortality forecasting from extrapolating trends to modelling underlying mechanisms.
