Eleonora Bertoni is a Project Manager – Computational Social Scientist at the European Commission, Joint Research Centre (JRC), where she works for the Centre of Advanced Studies (CAS). She manages the activities of the CAS group on Computational Social Science for Policy which aims at building capacity in accessing and analyzing non-traditional data to address specific policy questions.

The prize is in memory of a young Italian biostatistician, Maria Chiara Magri. Maria Chiara held a PhD in public health, specialising in biostatistics and clinical epidemiology, and she worked as a researcher at the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) and the Italian National Cancer Institute.
Unfortunately, Maria Chiara suffered from a genetic syndrome and sadly passed away last year at the age of 34. Family, friends and colleagues wanted to honour her memory by instituting this prize and awarding two young researchers with similar interests as Maria Chiara.
Laura is the proud recipient of one of the prizes after she submitted her paper on ‘Approximate Bayesian Computation (ABC) for the natural history of breast cancer, with application to data from a Milan cohort study’, which was part of her PhD thesis and has been recently accepted for publication in Statistics in Medicine.
This ninth appointments of the Dondena Seminar Series 2023 will feature a presentation by Matthew A. Kraft, Associate Professor of Economics at Brown University and a Research Associate at the National Bureau of Economic Research; on his academic paper titled "Taking Teacher Evaluation to Scale: The Effect of State Reforms on Achievement and Attainment".
